Jack Petchey Achievement Award April/May
For the Jack Petchey Achievement Award in April we had one nomination, so no vote was required. The well-deserved award goes to Sheikh Muhidin. Sheikh puts enormous effort into training, not least travelling frequently across London to get to our training venue at Kingsmeadow. His commitment paid off this year: competing in his fifth London Mini Marathon, he repeated his 2009 success in the younger age group, this time winning the U17 wheelchair race in a massively improved PB.
We now have to find the winner of the May award, so please send me nominations, as usual with a little blurb about the reasons for the nomination, by Wednesday 1 June. The award is by no means limited to top performances; commitment to training, working for the team, overcoming personal difficulties are just some of the many possible achievements (see http://www.jackpetcheyfoundation.org.uk/?young-achievers/your-stories.html for examples).
Please send statements of support for Sheikh and nominations for May to the Club’s Jack Petchey Co-ordinator, Frank Schubert ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
